Digital Product Passports

The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a core UNTP credential that serves as the digital carrier of product and sustainability information for every serialized product item or batch shipped between value chain actors. Issued by product shippers as W3C Verifiable Credentials, DPPs provide essential data including materials provenance, conformity claims, emissions and circularity scorecards, and traceability information - all designed to support supply chain transparency while maintaining the lightweight structure needed for B2B transactions.

RBTP extends this core UNTP framework with specialized Digital Product Passport implementations for specific product categories that require additional industry-specific data elements. These RBTP extensions - including the Digital Electronic Goods Passport and Digital Battery Passport - maintain full compatibility with the core UNTP structure while incorporating the specialized attributes and conformity frameworks necessary for their respective industries. Detailed documentation for these RBTP extensions is available in dedicated sections of the RBTP Knowledge Base.
